Random Recordings #2

This is part of a series I call random recordings. You can learn more here: https://anthonymontalbano.com/random-recordings-1/

The following recordings are for the second half of February 2017 (since February 13th to be exact):

  1. Don’t take a no from someone who can’t take a yes.
  2. Direct mail and billboards are very strong.
  3. How does your product make you feel? That is the essence you want to capture.
  4. To be a good business person you have to be brutally honest with yourself.
  5. It’s not about what happened, it’s about what happens next. Do you want to spend your life running from something or running towards something?
  6. Starve the ego, feed the soul.
  7. Discipline equals freedom
  8. What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?
  9. Analysis of others are actually expressions of our own needs and values.
  10. Classifying and judging people promotes violence.
  11. Communication is life-alienating when it clouds our awareness, that we are each responsible for our own thoughts, feelings and actions.
  12. We can replace language that implies lack of choice with language that implies choice.
  13. I can handle you telling me what I did or didn’t do and I can handle your interpretation, but please don’t mix the two.
  14. When we combine observation with evaluation people apt to hear criticism.
  15. Expressing vulnerability can help resolve conflicts.
  16. A common confusion generated by the English language is our use of the word feel without actually expressing a feeling.
  17. Connect your feeling with your need; “I feel ____ because I need ____”.
  18. If we express our needs we have a better change of getting them met.  Unfortunately most of us have never been taught to think in terms of our needs.  We are accustomed to thinking about what’s wrong with other people, when our needs aren’t being fulfilled.
  19. Luck is just a low probability occurrence.
  20. Amaziograph app for iPad.
  21. The only why flying cars are going to work (because of the third dimension) is when it’s completely automated.  We’re not to far away from self-driving vehicles, but when we add that third dimension with the complexity of driving, will it really make sense.
  22. Driving a car will be like horseback riding.  We’ll go out to the country to take a car for a spin, but in reality basic transportation will be automated.
  23. APIGen Hookdocs for Woocommerce on github
  24. Look into telemetry data collection for software development.
  25. To gain something for yourself, you must make someone else’s life better.
  26. Travel is the antidote to ignorance.
  27. We all admire the wisdom of the people that come to you for advice.
  28. When interviewing, start from the bottom of the resume first. You’ll learn a lot about somebody from the interesting parts at the bottom.
  29. The average multi-millionaire has over 7 sources of income.
  30. Empathy is a respectful understanding of what others are experiencing.
  31. When we listen empathetically to ourselves we will be able to hear the underlining need.
  32. Write a list of things you do everyday and then read each line item and determine whether you “choose” to do that or “have” to do it.  Think carefully, most of the items you “choose” to do.
